The Bluebeards Revenge
A guide to Valentine’s grooming for men

It’s the date on your calendar you daren’t forget, and the one that strikes fear into the hearts of men the world over. Valentine’s Day is approaching at lightning speed, but this year, rather than breaking into a cold sweat at the mere thought, take heed of our tips for a more successful Valentine’s Day, and make it through the occasion unscathed.

1. Be smooth

If there’s one day when grooming should be your number one priority, Valentine’s is it. There’s no getting around it – your date will expect you to make an effort, and neglecting to do so could damage your chances of getting up close and personal at the end of the night. Worry not, though – a few extra minutes in the bathroom will ensure that the pressure is lifted in other areas, as a good first impression can work wonders.

Ensure that your skin is touchably soft by having a good, close shave on the day. Skipping this step the day before if possible will result in a smoother finish, and taking care to prep and follow up thoroughly will maximise your efforts. A good-quality shaving cream and post-shave balm are a must!

2. Avoid a hairy situation

Continuing along with the same theme, unwanted hair can make an appearance in other places, too. Despite what you might think, she WILL notice those wayward tufts emerging from your nostrils, ears – and elsewhere. Invest in a good trimmer and kick them into touch quick smart, as hairy orifices scream old and will do your man points no good whatsoever.

While you’re at it, you may want to consider some tidying up in other areas, as the gorilla look is not going to do you any favours either. An excessively hairy back and chest can be easily rectified with the help of a glorious cut-throat razor – or an electric trimmer, at the very least.

3. Smell on point

There is nothing worse than a bad smelling date, and dousing yourself from head to toe in aftershave can prove just as disastrous as neglecting to shower. The thing to remember is that less is always more, so have a good wash beforehand and spritz some of your favourite eau de toilette onto your wrists, neck and chest. One spray on each area will more than suffice, though, so go overboard at your own peril.

4. Style yourself slick

Forego your usual textured hairstyle in favour of an altogether slicker look. For 2015, it’s all about the high-shine, impeccably groomed choice, so opt for a water-soluble pomade like The Bluebeards Revenge’s newest offering, and try a side swept quiff or a pompadour.
